LONDON – When the doors reopen to London’s National Portrait Gallery later this month, visitors may notice more than just the exhibition halls have changed.  

During a three-year closure to facilitate a £35 million redevelopment, the institution's management decided staff uniforms needed a rethink to reflect a focus on less wasteful operations.  

This UK tourist attraction is by no means alone. The last year has seen a growing interest in putting an end to the linear economy which has long been considered standard practice for workwear.
