BRUSSELS – Scientists at the VUB University in Brussels have made progress in the development of a ‘self-healing’ leather-like material that could be used in future textiles and footwear.
In a new study, mycelium, a root-like structure of a fungus consisting of a mass of branching thread-like filaments, was found to grow again if damaged and has leather-like qualities.
