BRUSSELS – MEPs have today adopted recommendations to ensure that textiles sold on the EU market are produced in a circular and more ‘sustainable’ way and meet human, social, and labour rights during their production.

The vote in favour of moving the proposals on to the next stage by the Environment Committee MEPs, intends to combat the impacts of fast fashion as part of the EU Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles, as it looks to legally oblige manufacturers and fashion brands to address the overproduction and overconsumption of clothes and footwear.
