ZURICH – New research has explored the historical and ongoing influence which the actions of the global textiles industry has on the welfare of workers, economic development and the environment. 

The paper states that the textile sector has been, and continues to be, a ‘dominant factor’ in lifting people from extreme poverty, for female empowerment and economic development.  

It is also subsequently noted that new business models and sharp growth within the fashion industry is now putting unprecedented pressure on people and nature.
